CONNECTION
- In the book, Aurthur and Erik get caught for stealing. They admit to the crime and give back everyting, and in exchange they ask that no one press charges. In a way, that is a plea bargain. They said that the were guilty, and in return, asked that they not be punished.
- Learning what a plea bargain is and how it works, really helped me to understand what they were doing and why they were doing it. It helped me see that they weren't actually cheating the justice system and that admitting to the crime in exchange for no charges is a legal procedure. However, when applying plea bargaining to the text, i decided that i thought plea bargaining wasn't fair because no one gets punished for the crimes they commited. It's like a criminal saying " Yes, I did it. But now that i told you, you can't send me to jail." Erik and Aurthur only admitted to the crime but the worst punishment they got was getting grounded.
